Restricted Columns and the Capable Org chart

This section only applies to monday.com accounts which are subscribed to the “Enterprise” plan, since column level permissions are not available in other tiers.

In several usecases of the org chart, you may want to have private data on the board and not allow all users to see all columns. For example, if you have:

  1. Salary or Bonus numbers
  2. Certain types of private contact information
  3. Next of kin information
  4. Flight risk, or other data you’d rather not make public

The org chart fully supports these usecases. Simply use the normal column “view restrictions” within your monday.com account to set this up.

Private columns interaction with the org chart

Members with view access to columns will be able to see them and set them up as extra fields on the org chart without fear that it will expose private data to other users on the account since the permissions are enforced by monday.com.

This means that even if you add a restricted column to an org chart view, it will only be visible to those with permissions to view it.

Wherever you see the “closed eye” icon next to a column, it’s view is restricted.

Setting up private columns

Set up private columns by going to:

  1. Click on the ... icon for the column you want to hide
  2. Browse to Settings > Restrict Column View from the menu that pops up
  3. Once you select this, by default board owners can see the column, but you can add non board owners to the settings to be able to view the column if you wish.
